Message 1. Yes, if you have aftermarket shocks. Some people with eibachs and stock shocks reported that there is less of a difference between the two modes.

2. Performance tires in general tend to be noisy. Having said that, the Eagle GS-D3s are reasonable quiet, dunno about the bridgestones. Have you looked at the user reviews on tire rack?

3. Put the car on jack stands and take a look. Also, open the hood and take a look. If you see the strut actuators, it is a pretty good bet that you have stock shocks.

4. Yes.
5. Remove and inspect. Is the smell similar to rotten eggs?
